CLOSE with someone that has had counselling.
This week has been nominated
a week to focus on Counsellors. One of our Youth News reporters
interviewed a youth that has been through counselling. For
obvious reasons his interviewee wishes to remain annonymous.
However, to whoever you are THANK YOU for taking the time to be
interviewed! Respect !
Q. Why were you
getting teased?
I get teased because I
have an odd shaped head and I smell funny. I have unfashionable
clothes so I get teased for wearing "high water".
Q. Why did you decide
to go to counselling?
I had lost all my friends
and was getting teased at school on a daily basis. In addition
I was starting to argue with my parents at home. I basically
hated my life and myself. I knew inside of myself I had to
do something so I mustered up enough courage and went to see the
counsellor.
Q. What has counselling
done for you?
It made me feel a lot
better about myself and has made me appreciate how much I have.
There are children so much worse off than me, some are starving
to death and here I am complaining about a depressing life.
I showed me a lot and now I am happier person. I definitely
recommend those who get teased to go to your guidance counsellor.
It just gives you a differnt outlook on life.
In closing, if you wish
to seek counselling out of school you can call Teen Services (292
4598) and i am sure someone would be glad to help you. YOU
DO NOT HAVE TO BE ALONE, there is someone who would be able to help.
ps. Youth News welcomes
anyone to join their team and if you are looking for some new friends
from all different schools you can call us on 79 YOUTH and join
our reporting team..
