Love Checklist

LOVE CHECKLIST

If you think about it most of us spend more time learning how to drive a car than learning how to love.  Please find below a few pointers:

  • Be realistic in what you expect from your partner and your relationship.  Looking for perfection is always going to leave you dissatisfied.
  • Long lasting love comes in part from building shared interests and enjoying time together
  • Sex is not the most important part of a relationship, love is so much more than just physical, what about the mental and spiritual.
  • Be willing to compromise.
  • Be willing to listen to criticism.
  • Be willing to assume responsibility for your own actions instead of blaming them on somebody else.
  • Be direct and honest in communication with your feelings of your partner.
  • Don't try to take responsibility of making your partner happy, because you can't do it by yourself "it takes two to tango.."
  • Don't let your love relationships ruin your other friendships, boyfriends and girlfriends come and go but your friends are there for you all the time.
  • Be YOURSELF.
  • Don't force your partner in to compromising his or her values or becoming something that he or she isn't.
  • Keep your promises.
  • Be willing to admit your weaknesses and uncnertainties.

DON'T ALLOW YOURSELF TO FALL IN TO THE "LOVE FALLACY" - THE IDEA THAT ONCE YOU'VE FOUND LOVE, IT WILL LAST FOREVER AND EVER.  FEW LOVES ARE LIKELY TO LAST A LIFETIME EVEN UNDER THE BEST CIRCUMSTANCES.
